going to the port and market day

By: Iris Stringer-Graeve

Today the students and faculty went to go explore some of the more touristy places in Falmouth (aka the port), and some of the more local places that we haven't experienced yet, (the local market). Here are some pictures from our day.

Here is a picture of Allure of the Sea, which is the second biggest cruise ship in the world.

As soon as you walk into the Port you see John Tharp's house.  He was the owner of the Good Hope plantation where we are staying. Sadly the port will not let people restore the building yet.

In the port there was a group of locals showcasing local dances.

One of our students, Shiraz, got to meet the Mayor of Falmouth and interview him about the economics here in Jamaica.

One of the most popular things that were being sold in the market was knock off merchandise.

At the market there were a lot of shoes!!!!!

In the market in between vendors was a tiny meat market, and here is one of the butchers we talked to.
